Anytime you plan a SURPRISE party there are a few ounces of truth-telling that goes out the window. This past month we have been in the process of planning a 30th birthday party for the Preacher Man. This becomes very complicated when it comes down to the week of the party. Many things have to fall into place to insure that the surprise is kept.
Therefore, I am a BIG FAT LIAR.
And, to be honest it's uncomfortable.
You see the Preacher Man had a birthday towards the beginning of the month. He hit the big 3-0. Yep, he turned thirty. In fear that I would throw him a big Over the Hill party he swooped us up and ran off to Colorado for our vacation. He says, "It just worked out that way..." But, I'm calling shenanigans. We waited 20 days after his orginal birthday to be sure that it was a SURPRISE party. This week it all came together.
It was a fishing themed party with a bucket full of money for his Boat Fund. He won't have to save his $10 a week nearly as long since he got a nice little jumpstart! This was so much fun putting together! Two of my most dear friends organized the party, we even were able to go shopping one evening last week for all the party stuff (and that shopping trip is another post by itself!!).
Here are the decorations:
Collage of Pictures
Old Person Basket
Caution Tape
Balloons
One of Two cakes
The fun table.
That caution tape gave us fits!
It just wouldn't cooperate with the tablecloth.
The food.
Every Baptist Preacher loves Fried Chicken with all the trimmings!
You see we had a sweet man from our church to keep the Preacher busy for a few hours before church. Another man "volunteered" to teach Men's Bible Study for the night.
Another volunteered to bring the Men's Ministry their food.
Everything was taken care of...
And, the Preacher NEVER caught on.
It all worked so wonderfully!
SUUURRRPPPRRIIISSSEEE!!!!
The Preacher Man with his dear friend, the one who was suppose to teach Men's Bible Study for the evening.
The Par-tay!
In the old person basket there were some old people glasses.
The Preacher Fam.
Little did he know these were also trick candles.
The package actually read, "Too Old to Blow them Out."
And, the Preacher Man's favorite seat in the house...
Shootin' the breeze.
On his REAL birthday in Colorado, we took him golfing!
It was beautiful weather, mid-fifties!
Of course Ruthie Jane had to try her hand in it!
What a pair!
And, I will leave you with a few pictures from my birthday too!
My sweet family.
We came earlier than expected, so my momma wasn't able to order me a cake. But she made a special homemade one for me!
The whole fam minus the Preacher Man.
There he is!
Oh yeah, homemade ice cream too!
What a fantastic year it has been!
And, such wonderful celebrations with the ones we LOVE!
I know there were pictures to the max, but it was such a wonderful time I HAD TO SHARE! :)

Aw, that is so sweet and so much fun! YAY KENNY!
