Bye Bye Bessie

Bessie.
She's been a good ice box.

Bessie came into our lives after the Preacher Man and I had been married for eight months. We has just been called to a new church, in which thier parsonage did not come with a refrigerator. A dearly loved couple from the church graciously blessed us with Bessie, our first ice box. They had been using her in their garage as extra storage space and generously insisted that we take her home with us.  She was everything a newly married couple could ask for. She was an older model, but worked wonderfully.

Over the years her performance slowly began to fade. She began by burning out her lightbulb every two weeks. It was sorta strange, but we had a dark view inside most of the time. Then she started freezing anything I put into the lower meat or fruit/veggie compartments. So, only half of the fridge space was actually usuable. Next, her ice maker began to fail. And, on Sunday evening we realized she was no longer cooling the refrigerated section and only freezing the lower portion of the freezer.

After seven years of Bessie being in good working order, we realized it was time.
We unloaded all of Bessie's content into ice chests and began looking for a new ice box. We looked for bargains online, in the newspapers, and even asked for any possibility of a used refrigerator to purchase via Facebook. However, our attempts to buy used were unsuccessful so we began shopping the retail stores.

We bought Frannie.
She was delivered yesterday.
I will walk you through the sales process and introduce you to her real soon.

But, help me say goodbyes to Bessie for now.
We love ya Bess!

  1. You goofball. You remind me of Cari B.-naming cars and appliances! Tell Bessie good luck in her retirement home.

  2. There's nothing more exciting than a new appliance (minus the $)! Can't wait!
